Last monday the new CFEL building was officially inaugurated with a scientific symposium followed by a celebration. In front of numerous guests, Prof. Dr. Wilfried Wurth (CFEL Management Board, see picture below) praised the architecture of the building which was built on the Desy premises according to the plans of Stuttgart architects hammeskrause. Finally, up to 400 employers of Universität Hamburg, Desy and Max Planck Society will move into the offices – among them many members of CUI. “You can already feel, how the various groups get into conversations with each other”, said Wurth in face of the spacious foyer and many meeting places.
The greeting was followed by adresses by: Dr. Dorothee Stapelfeldt, Second Mayor and State Minister of Science and Research, Dr. Georg Schütte, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Dieter Lenzen, President of Universität Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Helmut Dosch, Chair of the Desy Directorate, Prof. Dr. Peter Gruss, President of the Max Planck Society and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Mlynek, President of the Helmholtz Association.
To the applause of the scientists, Prof. Dr. Robin Santra, Chair of the CFEL Management Board (top left in the picture), finally took a look at the research done in CFEL.
